The important distinction is that pretty much everything about Trump is known (no possible attack is too small for critics to attempt), and a staggering amount of concealment has been thrown up in front of Biden and Harris.Well that bar to be great compared to the Trumpster isn’t exactly staggeringly high

Donald Trump criticised Florida's six-week ban when he was asked about a state referendum on expanding abortion rights.
Trading some social conservative votes in safe states for reduce damage to him on hot button social issues in battleground states is prudent. Trump doesn’t need to worry about Florida or other solidly conservative states. He does need to worry about swing voters concerned with abortion rights elsewhere.
For all his myriad faults and shortcomings, he’s not a far right zealot on many social issues. That will displease portions of his base, but he’s savvy enough to know he has to walk a line there given how close this election may be.

Kinda like how now he won’t talk about the one thing he got right, getting Covid vaccines through Operation Warp Speed. As he learned a while ago, his cult gets angry when he mentions it, so he no longer mentions it and surrounds himself with anti-vaxxers.
