US Presidential Election 2024 - Trump vs Harris - Vote Hard with a Vengence

That we will.

I feel sorry for Americans. Neither choice, in my opinion, is a good choice.

LOL! I laugh thinking that Kamala must suck on a bottle of Nitrous Oxide prior to any speech or interview.
And I laugh thinking that Trump must take a bath in Tang prior to stepping out in public!

Actually, wait, no I don't, because the sound of someone's voice or the color of their spray tan are immaterial and unnoticeable details when dealing with issues of this level.

He definitely does take a bath in something.

But as Jarnhamar says: We'll know in a couple days.

The US election seems more at home in a Roman colosseum.

Interestingly when you watch TV shows featuring US government, the president is usually portrayed as professional, not in their 70s or 80s and forgetting how to talk, and all around solid politicians. Or maybe less than honorable, but still capable and appear in good standing. It's weird the US population seems entertained with people like Biden Trump and Harris.

Perhaps it has come about due to the preponderance of all the Reality TV programs today. Seriously, how can The Kardashians still be on the air, and produced by Disney? Not the Disney I grew up with. Daytime and Nighttime talk shows also contribute to the mix of biases.

If a national abortion law were important enough to Democrats, they could have passed it in the first year of Obama's presidency (they had the presidency, House, and 60 Senate seats). Relying on Roe v Wade never being overturned was an ongoing gamble; it was recognized even by supporters as a weak decision.

Abortion isn't a huge issue in this election when people are asked to rank their top 10 issues. It ranks higher among Democrats, but they're already mostly not voting Republican. They've tried repeatedly to make it a centrepiece, and it hasn't gained traction. Don't confuse intensity with breadth.
True they could have, but any federal law would have still been vulnerable to review by SCOTUS. As mentioned, enshrining it is in the Constitution is a much higher bar.

The Mueller investigation led to eight people with varying proximity to Trump - some from his inner circle - being convicted of crimes.
Yes. None of colluding with Russians, which was the point of the investigation, but I realize the process and other unrelated crimes are the consolation trophy people like to cling to. Dig deep enough and long enough into politicians and their associates and you'll likely uncover crimes. An investigation into Biden with the same reach and duration would have turned up a few. And there are plenty of other names that could replace "Trump" or "Biden" at the top and produce similar results.

There is zero way anyone is getting a constitutional amendment passed down here for a long time, unless it’s something that both parties would want.

The USSC doesn’t make law, and outside of constitutional conflict would have a tough time striking down federal law passed by bill from the House and Senate. However the issue is the breakdown of Federal versus State powers. We have also seen that there is a lot of Federal Agencies who act like they can create laws, when that isn’t in their purview, which is often when the USSC strikes them down.

Actually there was, just not directly tied to election interference.

Agreed, but the fact that the Mueller report was heavily discounted by MAGA missed the point of some really erie links to Russia that where exposed.

Collusion with Russians was one of three prongs of investigation at the start of the investigation. You’re correct that they did not establish that. They did establish that Russia interfered with the election, and a number of indictments resulted.

The investigation and resulting prosecutions did reveal that a Trump surrounded himself with criminals. Which was in no way a shock, but it was confirmed.

By all means pretend that the Mueller investigation was a nothing burger. Just recognize the judicial record shows otherwise. Unsurprisingly, Trump, who surrounded himself with criminals, has since also been found guilty of felonies. But his cult of personality will obviously dismiss that too.

My wife voted with her "feelings". Not being eligible to do so myself, I bet my money on Minority Rule.

Although Team Red has not won the Popular Vote in 20 years, my $ is on them winning the Electoral College.

Since the 25 least populated states have about 16 per cent of the population, a sixth of the country can control the Senate. Therefore, my $ is on Team Red taking the Senate.

That will give Team Red control of the Supreme Court.

Less certain about the House of Representatives, but my money is still on Team Red.

I've lost bets before, so lets see what happens!

What do you think the death toll will be on November 6th if Trump doesnt win?
While it may be decided on 06 Nov (or 05 Nov if it isn’t close), I’d say the Inauguration would be when things really pop off.

There are still election-related procedures that continue on after election night due to the way the individual states sort out mail votes, etc.

That being said, I’m sure that the National Guard has some…er…more robust marching orders planned this time around.

Actually I'll amend my guess.

Trump loses, hand he doesn't attend sentencing at the end of the month. A warrant is issued. He tries to flee the country but his plane is grounded. He then flees to the Forrest of West Virginia. He makes a call out to loyal pro-Trump militia to join him and protect him. A few do. After weeks of standoff with the national guard, the Feds move in. 17 militia and 3 feds are killed. Trump is dragged from a hole, half naked and having soiled himself.

Citing the spinoffs of the investigation has approximately the same value as citing the popular vote does for Hillary's loss in the 2016 election. People who don't like that the Steele Dossier, the Alfa Bank server rumour, and the letter by 51 intelligence community luminaries (for example) were used to salt misleading claims don't care about some guy's false statement or financial fraud. They think the system is dirty, because dirty people on the outside of investigative and media agencies were able to get dirty and gullible people on the inside of the agencies to carry political water and throw up a bunch of political dust. As long as people think the system is dirty, every appearance of electoral impropriety is going to look like fraud to them. The blame for that distrust lies firmly with the people who exploited the system or allowed themselves to be exploited, and is unlikely to vanish until the guilty parties have received some sort of adequate comeuppance and people are no longer seen to be trying to shape election results by fighting processes which tend to safeguard election integrity.

So, instead of addressing the actual criminal charges and findings, you’re out here spinning up a web of who really 'poisoned the well'? That sounds like the classic 'blame anyone but Trump' playbook in action.

It could have been a captioned photo but I think it was an editorial cartoon I saw shortly right after Biden was elected. The two characters were Donald Trump and his daughter Ivanka. “Daddy are we going to jail?” asks Ivanka. Trump answers “No princess, we’re going to Russia.”

Nice. What about if he wins?

I will concede that polls by themselves aren’t a guarantee, but Selzer (whose company conducted said poll) has been correct within the margin of error for the last 4 elections. Iowa has traditionally been red so if they swing blue, it’ll be interesting to see which other states do too.

Other forums have suggested that with the internal migration from places like CA and NY to places like NC, SC, CO, and elsewhere due to property prices, those states may see their traditional voting patterns change due to the new residents.
