The GAF factor for this COC ceremony seems pretty low. 9:45 this morning I get a dwan email saying the COC ceremony is at 10:30. There's no MS team's link so watch it on Facebook or YouTube.

They most certainly can sign a pay sheet. Now getting someone to action it in the pay system is another matter.

Reading this chain it appears that my concerns may have been valid. At least no matter what happens at most I will have to deal with it for 2 years.

yes but at the moment it appears that they are all on the same page so will be pushing the agenda and only checking those that don't fully support it.

GOFOs do tend to move quickly - especially if they are already identified as streamers. Most are already eligible for an annuity and many are late 40s or 50s - so if it were to take too long, then they would hit CRA 55 or 60 before they could become CDS. In this case, I'm not sure of the dates and promotions, so can't comment on specifics.

The other factor is there really much of a difference in what the various general ranks do or is it more the prestige of the higher rank? Especially for a force the size of the CAF?

That's not quite true. Every senior Canadian bureaucrat I've spoken to has said they're committed to finding him - and a couple of other guys here - positions as senior advisors to the CDS.
