I up to this point (my last reply to Fish) never even once mentioned a University degree. Uneducated doesn't even mean you didn't go to school. You can go to a shit school and come out uneducated. Heck, you can go to a really good school and come out uneducated if you don't take your education seriously and the school has a no-kid-left-behind policy.

The people who are uneducated rubes are the ones who are just educated enough to understand and believe a story but who are not educated enough to think critically and question the story.

Your examples mean nothing to this conversation when we are talking about populations well into the 10s of millions. There are people out there who can be successful without any formal education. There are people who develop sound critical thinking skills without any formal education. Good for them; I don't give a shit. At a macro scale, when people in the west is being bombarded misinformation. disinformation, and outright lies, it the masses of people who can't see beyond what's right in front of their face that matter.
When I look at the education and voting pictures people send out- I also consider that it’s possible that because someone has been in university for years- it may be that they have been indoctrinated rather than they now have special insight 🤷‍♀️

It isn’t the gotcha some folks think it is. (Not here)

School boards and Parent Teacher Associations used to be community driven. Parents were actively engaged in selecting, monitoring and policing course material, teachers, principals and administrators.
then they got kicked to the curb by the very people they selected. Board members devised criteria to make themselves indispensable:looked harmless at the time like adding courses or degrees to the requirements.

I saw that in the Feds, people designing the job requirements would set a university degree as a requirement, because they could not fathom any other way to assess people. Most of the jobs that say university degree, does not require that level of education, nor do they pay enough to make it worthwhile. Now with automated computer reviewed resumes. If you can't check that box of "university degree" your resume is binned regardless of your other experience.
Prime example, DFO decided to do away "Habitat biologist techs" and require everyone to have a degree. Except the Tech in Smithers, trained almost half the habitat biologist in the Province and everyone was in awe of him. DFO gave him a year and half to get his degree, he told them to pound sand and now runs a successful consulting in the field, which DFO has to hire and pay twice his previous wage, including training future biologists.

That’s why if their HR is worth anything they would also include “or any combination of training and experience or employer approved alternative”

Harris Won The College-Educated Vote—But Trump Gained Young And Latino Voters. Here’s The Breakdown.

Former President Donald Trump has secured victory over Vice President Kamala Harris in an election that wasn’t nearly as close as pollsters predicted it would be, with the Republican nominee picking up more points than expected among key demographics like Black voters and young people.

Looks like Harris lost alot of votes even when beating out Trump in certain demographics.

Trump Calls Elon Musk A ‘Super Genius’ In Victory Speech: Here’s Everything They’ve Said About Working Together

In declaring his presidential victory in the early hours of Wednesday morning, Donald Trump was quick to praise billionaire Elon Musk as a "super genius" after the Tesla founder and X owner donated more than $100 million of his personal money to Trump’s campaign, tore down his opponents online for months and spent weeks campaigning in swing states ahead of the election.

Key Facts

After securing the electoral votes needed to return to the White House, Trump responded to an audience member calling out Musk’s name by saying, “Let me tell you we have a new star…a star is born, Elon.”

“He’s a character, he’s a special guy, he’s a super genius,” Trump said of Musk before adding, “We have to protect our geniuses, we don’t have that many of them.”

The praise from Trump came after months of heavy campaign spending and vocal support from Musk, who Trump has said will have a government position under his new administration.

Trump in September said if he wins reelection he will “create a government efficiency commission tasked with conducting a complete financial and performance audit of the entire federal government,” a plan first proposed by Musk, and said the world’s richest person has agreed to head the task force under a Trump administration.

Musk first brought up the idea for a commission that would ensure “taxpayer’s money… is spent in a good way” during a conversation with the former president in August, which was live streamed on his social media platform, X.

After Trump’s announcement, Musk responded to a tweet about a Washington Post report that Trump is considering him for a role in auditing U.S. agencies and identifying government programs to cut, saying he “can’t wait” and that there is "a lot of waste and needless regulation in government that needs to go.”

In October, Trump told Fox News Musk is a "great business guy" and described his new role as “Secretary of Cost-Cutting.”

It’s amazing how life like he is.

Proficiency in a second language, relevant work and volunteer experience are assets.

But first, depending on the profession, applicants must meet provincially mandated academic qualifications for those assets to be considered.

You be surprised how many failed to add that.
If you want to see snobbery at play, just be the only person in the room without a degree discussing a major project. You get looked down upon quite a bit. The ones that were really anal generally had the fluffy degrees, I found the Engineers respected you if you asked intelligent questions regardless of your training. I admit I got joy out of grilling the anal ones and having them not be able to answer technical questions during those meetings.

One of the issues, and a potential fault with the system, is that they are not hiring individuals solely for the position they have applied for, but also for the positions they may want 5 years from now. To be honest, in most areas the university degree isn't needed at the entry level positions. I'm not sure where that may change, and whether the experience gained doing lower level positions equates to what a degree might give you.

Well he was referring to the “Feds”. Not debating any professional designations needed for the work.

We have plenty of jobs here where a degree is preferred but that can be waived based on experience, training and approved alternatives.

The unsubstantiated story I heard was Musk and Peter Thiele convinced Trump to pick Vance for VP and that Vance will use the 25th amendment to dump Trump and do Musk’s and Thiele’s bidding.

It’s more than likely BS.

If Trump, Tucker Carlson and Elon Musk can “just ask questions”, why can’t I? ;)
