I have learned recently that certain units of the 7th Recce Regt., 17th Duke of York Royal Canadian Hussars, were detached to serve with different regiments of the 3rd Cdn Division during the Normandy campaign. I am particularly interested in one detachment that was assigned to the 8th Bde, HQ.

Can anyone tell me how the recce crew, which consisted of an officer, corporal and four troopers in jeeps with two radios, would function with the Brigade HQ? My thought was that, serving the HQ, they would have not been in the most forward areas of the battle. However, my research subject, Acting Cpl. Cameron L. Jones, was killed on 9 Jul 1944, so I am trying to determine where and possibly how he was killed.
