I'm getting out on a 3(b) medical soon, but my wife is due before my release.

I'm getting run around by the OR when I try to get questions answered, so I figured I'd try here to see if there are any CFAO's that I could reference.

I'm looking for info on PATA leave and anything specific to serving time after the PATA leave is up.

Thanks.

The base your at should have someone in the OR who takes care of all Mata/Pata issues. (we have one in Gagetown).  Basically you can take your pata leave without it affecting your release as long as you don't take the mata/pata top up.  Your get 60% of your pay throught EI  and the military can top you up to I believe its 97% (the pay pers can confirm this).  Any top up pay you take you either pay it back upon your release or you stay in the military until you have payed it back with time.  With my last child I owed one year service for the year top up I recieved.  I would highly recommend you make an appointment with the release clerks to ensure that your release date won't conflict.

Your OR should seriously work on their pub searchs ...

And follow the advice from Kirsten Luomala and see the MATA/PATA & Release specialists.
