Hi all,

Do I have to quit my job after getting sworn in? Will I have the obligation to do so since I will be hired by the army? I'd prefer to quit since I hate it so it would be a good reason to finally turn the page... but that's not the question.

For those who'd like to know, I'm getting sworn in January 28th to become ACISS. Very excited.

Thanks for reading.

technically if you go REG force , you will be CB ( confined base ) and usually the first 6 weeks you will be confined on the floor you live on , so I really doubt you could show up for you're regular 9 to 5 job ..... but that's if you go REG Force.

A little more input would be good !

I think he's looking at the time between being sworn in and going away for BMQ, and as I did my BMQ while in the Reserves I don't have much input on that.

Yeah like I said , we need to know , is it REG / Reserve ( although I don't this there is ACISS in the reserve but we never know )

if it's reserve = chances are you won't quit the job you currently have

Reg forces = you will quit

as for the timing .... it all depends ... usually there isn't a ton of time between getting sworn in and starting BMQ .... but that's the USUAL way .... I've seen people waiting 1-2-3 months ( 3 months was because he got hurt and had to decline 1 BMQ )

I was sworn in on the 9th, and started BMQ on the 15th, worked till the 13th. As far as I know theres no official regulations about not working between swear in date and BMQ start date, though a call to your recruiting office could answer that. Like others have said, if you are talking about after starting BMQ, you will quit.

Whether or not you have to quit has been answered above by krimynal:

As the OP did not state what they are, and we have answered for both Regular Force and Reserves, this should be closed.
