I guess you can't be called a hypocrite for abusing the law just like you claimed your predecessor did IF YOU AREN'T EVEN PLANNING TO FOLLOW THE FUCKING LAW!

Right, but it also needs to be seen not merely as a reference to himself, but as a wink and a nod to anyone else aligned with him politically. Look at that comment and then consider the Jan 6th pardons and commutations, all the way up to and including actual sedition.

Disappointed to hear this. Have trans members in the US armed forces been problematic? It seems to be a non-issue in the CAF.

In the eyes of religious right that is defining part of his agenda, the problem is simply that they exist. This is consistent with the SecDef's view on women in the military. He's probably mad Truman desegregated the military - he was a Democrat after all.
 
I want to say that move will hurt their numbers but it seems like once Trump was elected their was a recruiting boom in their forces.

I suspect the recruiting boom had far less to do with trans issues, than it had to do with general pride in serving the country.

Oddly enough, when you make serving your country a point of pride, young people will sign-up. When you make pride in your country a point of shame, you get less people willing to sign-up...

The Americans are still having issues meeting their recruitment targets, much like every other Western nation and some other ones as well (China has recently reported a downturn in recruitment as well).

This is true, however, this only works if the "country" is viewed as something to take pride in. Gen Z and Gen A are very much about identifying with a "brand" that they feel gives them clout and "gets" them. But it also has to have a squeaky clean image.

If there is a general feeling that Trump's poor decisions are about to get America "cancelled" for it's many faults and transgressions; it will drop out of fashion like P.Diddy, Facebook, and Pumpkin Spice.

With that in mind, Canada may see an uptick of patriotism (and recruitment maybe) in all this; while the U.S. is going to have a harder time selling "my country, right or wrong."

This is going to be the anti-Vietnam crowd on steroids over the next 4 years if things keep on the way they are.

Why will it hurt their numbers? .1-.5% of the pop is trans, the majority of them have a bunch of other mental health issues which would disqualify them from joining in the first place. A large percentage is also fairly left leaning/anti-military and wouldn’t even want to join in the first place. So that recruiting base is really negligible at best.
