I have been reading books about Camp X, Camp 30 and a few others.  A few times they have mentioned St. Patrick's Regiment so being eager to learn about them, was there such a regiment or is it just fiction?  The book says that they were in Africa during WW II.  If there was such a Regiment where are they from?

Im not aware of any St Patrick's Regt with Canadian Context, and suspect it might be something like an informal name of some other regt.  There was a St Patrick's Bn of Arty which was made of Irish Ex-pats who fought for Mexico against the US. http://www.vivasancarlos.com/patrick.html refers
In fact, if you google St Patricks Regiment and filter out reference to Mexico, you get exactly two hits, both dealing with the book Camp 30. Looks like you might have a fictional liberty...

In the book it states that the St. Patrick's Regiment was composed entirely of men who volunteered to fight for King and Country
