How did he do this?

I suppose "oversized" doesn't really describe the scale of the map, it was actually laid out on a drill hall floor in a LTF.   It was large enough that you could walk around on it and this is what he had his Pl Comds do, letting you put a face to the sub-sub-unit.   Most of us will forget a name but we can usually picture a face we've seen.

Now that's pretty cool.  Kind of like life-size chess.  Lets everyone who will be on the ground get a feel for the general orientation of everybody else.
