Borat......thoughts?

I saw the movie, loved and hated it. Didn't really know what to think, but it was good for a laugh. Some of the stuff (yea, THE scene) was... *ech*.
Cohen's an interesting guy, that's for sure.

I thought it was pretty good, but still think that the TV show is better. The film went over the top in some places, and not far enough in others, i.e. i think it would have been hilarious to see the feminism interview continue, or more awkward conversation at the gun shop.

Should be seen, just to say that one has, but for those new to Borat, check out his "best of," available on youtube.com

For me the funnyest thing about it (beside THE scene), is the fact that he is actually an observant Jew, has a doctorate (writing his wrote his dissertation on Jewish involvement in the American Civil Rights movement), yet still has the acting skill to remain in caracter the whole time. That my friends is skill. To those who dismiss him because he is "stupid", you are not actually referring to Baron Cohen himself. To the rest of us, he is a genious on and off the screen.

I know one of his relatives has a PhD from Cambridge, but I can't find any info on exactly what degree(s) Baron Cohen himself has.

Israelis dig 'Borat' jokes in Hebrew

Associated Press

JERUSALEM -- Like moviegoing masses around the world, Israelis have crowded
theaters to watch the hit spoof "Borat." But they are laughing for another reason:
They actually understand what the anti-Semitic, misogynist Kazakh journalist is saying.

Few realize that comedian Sacha Baron Cohen's wacky comedic creation,
Borat Sagdiyev, is not speaking Kazakh or even gibberish, but rather Hebrew,
the biblical language of the Jewish people.

There is not much info on Sacha Baron Cohen at all, he is pretty tight with the info, and has never done an interveiw out of character. (ie Borat, Ali G, or I-forget-the-name-gay-austrian-fashion-reporter.)
