    Dozen's gather for anti-war protest at U of G

We should also note that Josh Curk also had a hand in writing it (his name wasn't highlighted though). I'll send you their email addresses.

    arm patch for reservist.

More pictures: http://www.army.forces.gc.ca/lfca/ExstalwartGuardian/flash/index.htm Click on "Cool Pics" (top right). No camouflage concerns here: while I still had one, it was 31 LIB's black on green (okay, so the green was a bit bright...). Also, I could just take off the patch and no one...

Old soldier's had enough! - Historical Perspective

Another problem is that some people are too ignorant to understand what the Canadian army does. I've been asked seriously several times if I'm going to be sent to Iraq, because some people actually think that Canada is involved in that war (this was long before JTF2 may or may not have...

    Dozen's gather for anti-war protest at U of G

At UWO ("University of Wealthy Ontarians" -- probably one of the more conservative universities in the province), the student newspaper has seemed to support the CF... http://www.gazette.uwo.ca/article.cfm?section=FrontPage&articleID=466&month=11&day=10&year=2005...

Old soldier's had enough! - Historical Perspective

Being spit on and called names? Sounds like what still happens here in London, ON. The majority of people don't seem to care one way or the other, and are often surprised that there is a relatively large military presence in their city. Some people support us. But a few actually do commit these...

    arm patch for reservist.

If you could get it to stay on past the first 24 hours. The damn things fell off if they were so much as touched. Especially a problem when removing the tac vest, walking through the bush, etc. Last year, I lost mine on the first day. They are worn below the Canadian flag, on a piece of velcro...

Canadian Colors... Flag or no flag in Afghanistan

Flag etiquette dictates that the National Flag of Canada should not be "displayed in a position inferior to any other flag..." and that the "National Flag is flown at all federal government buildings, airports, and military bases and establishments within and outside Canada." See...

    C9 ammo box problems

With the old boxes that actually used to stay on the weapons, I would sometimes hold on to the bottom of the box while firing from the shoulder (especially while firing at elevated positions). It worked quite well, actually. I don't really find it a problem to use the handguard with a box on...

CF-105 Arrow (not army related, but still CF related.)

While I am not insisting that one still exists somewhere in hiding, not all of the Arrows have been accounted for. There have been no government records yet discovered that indicate that all the Arrows were destroyed, and RL25202 disappeared from the tarmac before destruction was complete...

CF-105 Arrow (not army related, but still CF related.)

Speaking of "misinterpretation"... The final cost was $3.75 million per aircraft, not $12 million. The Chief Aeronautical Engineer for the RCAF compared the cost of the CF-105 to the F-106, F-102, and F-101, saying in a March 1958 memo, "Arrow costs compare favourably with the somewhat less...

    C9 ammo box problems

I've been a C9 gunner for the last 2.5 years. For the first two years, I had no problem with the box staying on. Since last summer though, it has become a real problem. Definitely a problem with the new boxes, not with the guns.

CF-105 Arrow (not army related, but still CF related.)

Hey, I remember this topic... Just reading old posts, and I want to clarify something. The GAR-11/AIM-26 Falcon had a nuclear warhead, but the AIM-4 Falcon that the Arrow was going to use did not. Development of the GAR-11/AIM-26 did not even start until 1959 -- too late for use in the Arrow...

    Reserve Courses Post BIQ

PLQ mods 2-5 (no mod 1 for reserves) is 9 weekends (including grad parade) over 4 months. DP2A (PSWQ) is not required for PLQ mods 2-5, only for mod 6. Last year, a DP2A was run between mods 5 and 6. Recce is offered over the summer (requires comms). I haven't heard of it being run on...

    Another "glasses" question...

Wearing glasses will not make you ineligible for the jump course. I know guys with glasses who have taken it. I found the biggest problem was doing patrols because my glasses would easily fog up. Anti-fog spray helped a bit.

    Infantry Trade Badge

As MikeM said in June, you wear the Infantry cap badge after SQ, then the unit cap badge after BIQ. But this thread is supposed to be about the badge on the sleeve of the DEU.

Any one here with the RCR or 48th reserve units?

Things have been better lately. It is a lot more relaxed and morale is back up. We haven't been doing a lot of training other than PT, but we did the battle fitness test last night so maybe we can get back to real training now. You probably now have some idea about what to expect until BMQ, SQ...

Religion in the Canadian Forces & in Canadian Society

What about respect for the beliefs of atheists? Why should they be forced to conform to other religious customs? All the power to atheists who choose to practice these customs, but those who do not want to conform should not be forced to. Since an order to remove headdress has been ruled...
