Liberal Minority Government 2021 - ????

Watching TV tonight when the Liberal attack adds came out comparing Polivere to Trump. If that's your starting point, you have nowhere to go but down.
Would help if his party didn’t do things like this:

Jenny Byrne and Candice Bergen.

Latest from 338. Seat projection is almost within the margins of error. Almost tied now.

We’ll see if this trend continues after the LPC race is settled tonight.
Settled

Bit of a burn for Freeland.

From one poll to another in just eight days Leger has it going from a 13 point CPC lead to a dead tie? WTF?
Of course polls can be and have been wrong, but I think Carney and his camp have injected a sense of optimism in the campaign vs. the constant negatives presented by Poilievre. I understand Poilievre isn’t too popular in Quebec and it will be interesting to see provincial breakdowns and how much strategic voting preferences are already coming to the surface without an actual election date. Frankly, considering the existential threat to Canada, I’ll be surprised if the NDP can even hang on to 8 or 9%. something that could mean the end of that party. I think the CPC will come in with a minority, but that the LPC could possibly displace them. There are so many unknowns at this point in time.

Or is Carney the next Ignatieff?
Shaping up different, I didn't have the unholy union of Mark Carney and Doug Ford on my bingo card but here we are with Ford praising Carney for his economic portfolio and experience. that's a relationship that could hurt the CPC long term

My friends, family and co-workers are, for the most part CPC supporters. That being said, most dislike Poliviere because of his history of "gotcha" attack dog antics in the HoC, but they still want to get rid of the Liberals. He's cleaned up his act in that regard lately, but still slips back into that schtick occasionally. (His "Sellout Singh" letter comes to mind.)

That Trump has come out and said Poliviere is "not a MAGA guy" plays in his favour with many of them. I think that may make it hard for the LPC to have much success with their Trump = Poliviere North attack ads.

I feel the Liberal's are going to have to spend a lot of time defending Carney and their record over the past near decade. But the Canadian electorate has a history of being forgetful and forgiving.

The best they will get is holding the CPC to a minority. Which is, in a way a far cry from what they were facing a few months ago.
