Friend of my fathers copied the following off his Grandfather's tombstone. Obviously, I can figure out most of it, but I'd like some detail, and I don't want to give him speculation.

2293814
Pte W H XXXXXXXX
CAN CAU BDE
Lord Strathcona Horse
C E
Thanks.

Top line is the Soldiers Regimental Number - 2293814

Next line is his Rank, Initials and Name

Next line should be the abbreviation for "Canadian Cavalry Brigade"

Next line is the Regiment - LdSH (RC)

Next line is Canadian Expeditionary Force, I believe - should have been 'CEF'

Often grave markers will have different units that the soldier served with marked on the headstone.

Canadian Cavalry Brigade
Lord Strathcona's Horse
Canadian Engineers

You guys freaking ROCK! My Dad's buddy is gonna be stoked. He's a good guy, too. Thanks.
