I'd appreciate the opinion of anyone that was over there in recent years, specifically in the southern part, Kandahar, and any areas where there were operations run.
I liken it to you putting your oven to about 350F....let it preheat.
Then open it....feel the heat wave hit you?
Just like that.
During the "winter" you have freak winds and rain that plow though with little notice.
Usually following the dust storm, which last anywhere from a few minutes to a couple of hours, you will be hit hard by rain that can last anywhere from 2 minutes to a couple of days.
Now in the mountains you do get snow....not alot, but enough to piss you off.
Yeah we were doing a platoon size fightinf patrol in the mountains and of course it was pretty hot during the days leading up to the patrol and so guess who didn't bring there bivy bag and then was really really wet and pissed that night! I would say " ou only learn your lesson once in Afghanistan!"
