US Presidential Election 2024 - Trump vs ??? - Vote Hard with a Vengence

Let’s not pretend for a second that a protectee has anything to do with the operational and logistical planning of their protective detail, or any fuckery that ensues in the course of actually carrying that out. Protective operations are carried out with the least possible involvement from the protectee. This would be more suited to the ongoing police misconduct thread that the election one.

For the sake of accuracy, it was a misdemeanour conviction for reckless driving, pled down from impaired. It was a couple decades ago. He’s responsible for his choices, and his guilty plea recognizes that. It appears that he’s kept his nose clean since, so that appears to be the system working.

I loathe impaired driving, and I got awards from MADD two years running for the number of charges I laid, so I have no sympathy for that category of offence. I also recognize that individuals are able to take accountability for their behaviour and correct it. Given his clean conduct and extensive public service since then, it’s not something that would still trouble me.

How would you characterize it, out of curiosity? Is felonious or other criminal conduct concerning for you in a political candidate?
I said nothing about Harris. I confined my comments to the agency. It was the article that simply identified it as her detail, which it was. I don't know why your trying to inject her into the conversation or make it sound like I'm blaming her.

You’re being disingenuous. You picked the article to post. It’s full of references to Harris herself and her campaign. It specifically references Watergate as a comparator, and of course we all know Nixon himself was not in the hotel room. Among the bolded headings in the article:
  • Breaking And Entering by Kamala Harris’ Secret Service
  • The Kamala Harris’ Secret Service Crime [sic]
  • Kamala Harris’s Lawless Campaign?
And that’s to say nothing of the main text itself, which just gets more shrill as it continues, culminating in outright silliness at the end.

So no, this is clearly written to try to make mud stick to Harris. Unless you intend to play more stupid than you’re treating all of us, you can’t pretend that’s not obvious and intended.

It’s strange then that so many republicans are pushing to loosen child labour laws.

So what, they are lowering the age a bit. At least the labour and safety laws will be in effect and the young workers will have proper representation. What difference is there working washing dishes or working at McDonalds. I applaud entry level jobs that give kids a start into what the working world involves, punctuality, proper pay for proper work, loyalty to your employer. Real jobs for young adults entering the workforce are few and far between. Besides, if they have a good job, they won't be out rioting with ANTIFA. Personally, I see those articles as nothing more than socialist dogma. Despite their bylines trying to paint it all on Republicans, Democrats also voted for it. And it's also already enacted in some states with no real problems. The sky is not falling.

At age 14 they should be focused on school and developing healthy social skills, not somehow squeezing in shifts at a job at a rate of pay that’s probably explosively dismal.

Youth typically have lower minimum wages than adults. That’s all this is about.

Give it a fucking rest. You can connotate whatever you wish. Always looking for the tiniest chink to paint it in a biased light. We were having some good discussions until you fell back to your picking flyshit out of pepper. Would you prefer I find another article describing the lawlessness of a three letter agency sans your sweetheart?

Didn’t you post just above something about children younger than 15 working? So factories are ok? Seems like that is what they are aiming at. I would think keeping them in school would be a bigger priority.
Besides, if they have a good job, they won't be out rioting with ANTIFA.
What? Bad jobs does not equate rioting with ANTIFA. Where the heck are you drawing that from?

Yet it is coming from mostly Republican states. But I agree about the by lines. I don’t personally equate child labour laws designed to protect children or highlighted legislation that could erode said laws as socialist dogma.

No thanks, I will not give it a rest. There’s no ‘tiny chink’ to some reasoning there that I’m ‘picking fly shit out of pepper’ on. I was engaging in good faith with a respectful but firm reply when you first posted about the apparent misdeeds by the USSS detail. You chose to come back with… Whatever that article was. It was a blatant hit piece and you’re trying to pretend it’s not, and I called you on it. You’ve chosen to dive back into the politics board. If you’re going to post questionable material from questionable sources (no byline, not a news website, no prior history of covering anything like this), you know to expect to have it questioned. If you want to try to treat the audience here like we’re stupid, you can expect a response to that too.

Where did you even find this article? The website “RF Safe” is straight up “5G causes cancer” level of stuff.

There’s bias, then there’s Infowars, then there’s RF Safe.

Well, I have experience working from a young age picking tomatoes and detasseling corn at 13, restaurants at 14, lied about my age and joined the reserves at 15, an auto plant at 16 and reg force at 17. Things have changed but I'm not approaching this from some bleeding heart, newspaper opinion parroted by some. This I have experience in and can walk the walk.

I wasn’t gonna go there, but yeah, it’s a garbage source. You don’t accidentally stumble across that when googling a news story. You’re following a link to it from somewhere that’s probably no better, and you aren’t trying to assess your cherry-picked source for anything resembling rigor or credibility. It’s not like other more established media from both sides of the spectrum (political, not RF) aren’t running the story with a more balanced and professional approach.

I never said I wouldn't leave the political forums. I said I was trying to stay away from the Get Trump thread. As to the rest, fill your boots. It's just your opinion.

Right, but you’ve also told us you left school after grade 10. And there’s nothing wrong with that; in your day and age you could still achieve real success with that, and you did. That’s not really the case anymore. Hasn’t been for quite a while. I’d respectfully suggest the math has changed there.

I assume you are talking to me with your last phrase.

YOU posted concern about children under 15 working in one post and are now okay with it in another. Pick a lane.

I was looking for an articles that covered things they did wrong. Funnily, there was very little out there even talking about it. I ignored the Harris shit because it meant nothing to my point. I didn't read it like some did as me attacking Harris. I grabbed the first thing that covered what I wanted. I don't give a rats ass about her. She's as a big a liar and phony as the rest. I also won't say much about Walz. He's no different. They are both hard left socialists and the US will get the government they deserve. If it means the end of the great experiment and the society devolves into total chaos and mayhem, that's where it will go. Anything I have to say will make no difference. If I'm guilty of anything, its not putting as much partisan bullshit into my reading as some would like or accuse me of. Sometimes a banana is just a banana.

If I was talking to or about you, I would have quoted you. I'm not a child. So get off the dog pile. I was talking about illegal alien children working in sweat shops.

Not dogpiling. Trying to follow your train of thought.

I would never mistake you for a child unless you were out picking tomatoes or detassilling corn but I’d likely have to look twice. ;)

I went to work for my family. Today even with two parents working, they can't make ends meet. They need to make that up somewhere. Yes it sucks that maybe the kids have to kick in, but it might mean the difference in keeping your home, putting food on the table or moving the family to Skid Row. We are not all blessed. Many are not. A simple look at what happened in Appalachia after the coal mines were shut down will show you the sorry depths those families have fallen to.
