Hello all,

I have been handed a fastball and am required to produce a vehicle brief on the CF's TUAV this Friday.   I have been back in the Int Section for approx 24hrs and all my contacts and OSINT resources have changed since 2002.

Anyway, sob story aside, does anyone have any good links, images or info on the TUAV currently in use with the CF.   I have checked out uavcenter.com, Janes, FAS, DND and CASR and none of them provide much info. I'm specifically looking for the nomenclature (is it a Spewer, Vindicator or what...) weight, span, payload, range and flight time.   Info on the launcher would be useful as well.

Any help with this would be most appreciated.

Gotta Love Google:  Thousands of sites on the subject.

Some info here, but then we don't know which one exactly you were looking for.... ;D

Thank you George,

All good sites.   I'm familiar with most, the rest I have bookmarked.

However, I'm looking for info on the TUAV currently being used by the CF.   I watched the thing get launched in Wainwright about 14 days ago and spoke to one of the ground crew.   He was the guy who packed the parachutes and was able to tell me how the thing lands and the PSI with which it is launched, nothing more.

Here is a very short article from Jane's

Canada resumes Sperwer UAV operations

-  05 April 2004

The Canadian intelligence, surveillance, targeting and reconnaissance (ISTAR) unit serving with the International Security Assistance Force (ISAF) in Afghanistan is again operating Sperwer unmanned air vehicles (UAVs) after receiving repaired units from French manufacturer Sagem.

Try this link. Some info and specs there.

Another link with some info

Hope this helps

Thanks again for your assistance.  I dove headfirst into a DIN search today and have managed to come up with what I needed.

My only final question is about the names.  Does anyone know if the CF has named the Spewar yet.  I have been told it is called the Vindicator and the launcher is known as the ROS.  But "single source is death" as they say.

Cheers.

Actually we had trials for sperwer, and vindicator here last month. The vindicator is actually the old target planes the AD used to shoot at, being trialed by the arty school. Sperwer are much bigger.

I would love to see the resolution of the black Delta Wing TUAV that was buzzing me everyday on the FTX in Wainwright.
