Trump administration 2024-2028

"As one digs deeper into the national character of the Americans, one sees that they have sought the value of everything in this world only in the answer to this single question: how much money will it bring in?"

― Alexis de Tocqueville, Democracy in America

I feel like at the core of Americana is isolationism. Meaning they want to do business with the world, but other than that they want to be left alone.

I could be way off.

not sure how isolationist musing about taking Greenland and Canada is. More like one of the other great trends in America, Expansion

For an isolationist country they sure have a lot of military in a lot of other countries.

Im not sure that either of these examples really speaks to or for normal American citzen.

See below.

The coasts- both of them, are not so much isolationist, its the inner core that it still God fearing and afraid of change that is.

While god fearing is still a thing, I think the Christian religious aspect is declining.

I was still thinking about this.

lol, no, I’ve got family on the US east coast, New England area.
I’ve got a different take on this - the coasts are primarily RC in the US and the inner core of the US is predominantly Protestant.
My theory is that the RC’s are a more ‘ethnically mixed lot” in the US and as a result are more up to different ideas and thoughts.
Whereas the inner core of America, being predominantly Protestant, is not exposed to new ‘blood, ideas, outlooks’ and thus is more isolationist than the coasts.
This is just a theory that I have. Having lived in Michigan and Massachusetts, I’ve lived in the core and the coasts. The majority of the new immigrants coming into the US are RC’s and are very diverse. Few Protestants are immigrating to the US.
It’s just a theory that I have.
