That alone makes this the...funniest...episode...ever.

Even better than:

oh yeah. The average Family Guy is funnier than the average Simpsons.

I'm sticking with the idea of two of the greatest writers of our times guest-starring, as making tonight's possibly the funniest Simpsons to date.

caveat: it's not laugh-out-loud at Homer funny. I just find the idea of Vidal and Wolfe doing guest-shots on TV, especially televised animated sit-coms, to be ridiculously funny.

Kinda like if the Pope walked onto Leno's set during the monologue and hit him with a pie in the face.
