Suicide attack in Talokan kills 2 German Soldiers

Am 28. Mai gegen 14:10 Uhr mitteleuropäischer Sommerzeit (16:40 Uhr afghanischer Ortszeit) wurde auf den Gouverneurspalast in Talokan ein Sprengstoffanschlag verübt.

Nach derzeitigem Erkenntnisstand sind zwei deutsche Soldaten gefallen. Drei deutsche Soldaten, darunter der Kommandeur des Regionalkommandos Nord, Generalmajor Markus Kneip, wurden verwundet. Die medizinische Versorgung wurde eingeleitet.

Nach neuesten Informationen wurden bei dem Anschlag fünf deutsche Soldaten verwundet (4 leicht und 1 schwer).

Zum Zeitpunkt des Anschlags befand sich eine hochrangige deutsch-afghanische Delegation zu Gesprächen im Gouverneurspalast. Vermutlich wurde der Angriff von mehreren Selbstmordattentätern durchgeführt.

Die Verwundeten wurden zunächst mit Hubschraubern zur weiteren medizinischen Versorgung in das Rettungszentrum des Regionalen Wiederaufbauteams (PRT) Kundus ausgeflogen. Vier Soldaten wurden zwischenzeitlich in das Einsatzlazarett Masar-i Scharif verlegt, einer kehrte zu seiner Einheit zurück.

Bei dem Anschlag wurden noch weitere Menschen getötet und verletzt, wobei die Zahlen bisher noch nicht bekannt sind.

According to new information concerning the attack, five German soldiers were wounded (4 lightly wounded, 1 seriously).

At the time of the attack, there was a high ranking German-Afghan delegation conducing a shura in the Governor's palace.  Apparently the attack was carried out by a number of suicide bombers.

The wounded were taken by helicopter for further medical treatment at the medical facilities at the PRT in Kundus.  Four soldiers were then taken on at the field hospital in Masar-i-Sharife, and one has since returned to duty.

Several others were killed and wounded during the attack and the numbers of casualties is expected to rise

Though it's sad to say that casualties are an everyday occurence in Afghanistan, it stands out that the commander of RC (North) was wounded.
