Yup, I've been there. Worked my ass off for 8 months, was only able to get some occasional work as things slowed down, and then took xmas off and got hassled for it.Teachers get "paid", the janitor staff work (Dad was a high school janitor) to deep clean areas that are normally in use, plus their holidays, and pretty much everyone else are laid off and have to go through that EI bullshit.
Which means technically you're supposed to be looking for work, and they have played hard ball with folks traveling before as they "weren't looking."
Entire industries are set up to depend on EI for 'off season', just didn't know the support workers at schools are one of them. I know some of them work through the summer for normal maintenance, but didn't realize the in class ones were laid off.
