New aircrew badge announcement made at 22 Wing North Bay

From what I gather, the AEC and AC Op trades never felt they were properly included in the "aircrew" group, which is why I made the rub that technically they still aren't IAW the official policy. ;D

This gives them the 'aircrew' vice 'flight crew' look on operational and DEUs, which must have been important enough to them to pursue.

I've met a few folks from the AEC/AC Op community, spending several days with them as the 'majority numbers' at a conference at the Glass Palace; this conf included some time with BGen Boyle and the leadership and council of Col Lachapelle throughout.

Speaking as an aircrew Warrant Officer, I say "BZ" to the air force for the same reasons I said BZ when the Door Gunners badge was formerly announced and presented.
The creation of these new wings are a perfect example of those in leadership roles looking out for the morale and welfare of their troops. Given their unique design, it’s not as if anyone is going to be confusing them with pilots, navigators, or other functions. The big disc in the middle is a pretty clear cue.

What I found disturbing is why are people so troubled by a group of people getting recognized for their unique skills and abilities? Given that this specific group flys for their job, why wouldn’t they wear flight suits when they are on flight status?

I see your point but...it isn't really related to if they are on 'flight status' (filling a flying line number). If they are qualified AW&C and are AEC/AC Op and their dress of the day is operational dress, they can wear a flight suit (in 1 CAD units, at least).

All that really happened was they traded in the upswept wing for the full wing; that is all. But...as a group, it was important to them.

Personally...I was hoping to change back to the half-wing/brevet for other-than-pilot aircrew trades when they changed the ranks a few years back. Each to their own...
