It is totally a PR problem. Perpetuated by NTO officers who aren't as cool as us MARS officers.

I don't know about that; it's definitely less prevalent, but there are some NWOs who would sell their BFF's firstborn to get ahead. At least a few of them made it to CO and higher before self-combusting in rather specatacular fashion, but they did that same things as BWKs, D levels, OpsOs and XOs.

As an NTO I've also been thrown under the bus by NTOs though, so it's not a trait exclusive to mars bars. But a terrible XO/CO will have a much bigger impact than a terrible MSEO/CSEO, with legacies like 50% of the crew releasing following a deployment..

I was being rather facetious about arsehole MARS/NWO's. Over my decades in the service I've seen all sorts of "HOW THE F*** DID HE GET A HARD RIGHT PER!!". There is still one officer that causes my blood pressure to explode every time I think of that waste of oxygen.
