LPC leadership race - 2025

The more I see and hear of Carney, the less impressed I am with him.

For a smart guy with an impressive CV and being an “outsider”, I would have thought I would have heard some unique policy proposals by now.

Instead, I’ve just heard vague-sounding values statements that sound almost Trudeau-esque. Or he agrees with what the current government is doing.

And who’s lining up behind him? Cabinet and PMO staffers. Great.

It’s funny that Freeland is sounding more “outsider” than Carney! 🤣

He has been a close ally of Trudeau for years and he now has not only Gerry Butts backing him but Katie Telford as well. Telford and Butts are the biggest hindrances to effective democratic governing for the Liberals I can think of.

Telford and Butts are exactly the right people... from the Conservatives perspective.

Speak of the Devil...

Two points - First - she is tone deaf - not everyone has Disney+ and her preaching is well.....idiotic

Second - Disney is for any age, not just kids

Third if someone decides to remake The Wizard of Oz (that should be illegal) we know who to cast as Ms Gulch...

Three points then....

Carney is just a continuation of Trudeau.

He's not an outsider, he's been as close to being a liberal MP without being one for some time and he has a share of the responsibility in the financial mess that we find ourselves in.

I also find it interesting that CVs are suddenly important, when for the last 9 years a part time snowboard instructor and substitute teacher were fine credentials.

Correct. CVs are only important when it matters for some. The HS drama teacher stuff was played up a lot. Then apparently a leader with literally no CV outside politics (in fact two of them were, so much so that they had to make stuff up) is suddenly ok by the same critics.

I really don't put stock in CVs for politicians, my point was the hypocrisy from the left about their sudden importance.

And yet the loudest voices about a drama teacher came from the right. Funny that .

I would argue no was saying anything about it until CVs became a thing as Carney entered the race.

The left can't make CVs an issue and not expect to have their own get debated.
