I was wondering if anyone knew the exact requirements and tests physical and psychological involved in getting on JTF-2. Or where I could get the information. Also, what kind of candidates do they accept. Thanks.

This is the subject of a yearly CANFORGEN which is supposed to be given widest dist in order to ensure all interested candidates know about it. Wander down to your OR and ask them to produce it...I believe the latest is a late ‘98 one.

JTF2 is open to all members of the Reg Force no matter what the trade. Make the grade and you‘re in, they‘ll teach you all you need to know.

And, here‘s a letter sent to that Member of Parliament with the big mouth:

To: Mr. D. Price, MP

I am uncertain whether you are a fool, or an idiot. Allow me to explain:

1.The primary task of JTF 2 is that of counter-terrorism.

2.If JTF 2 is deployed outside of Canada, this suggests they are not all in Canada.

3.If a terrorist were to imagine that JTF 2 was deployed outside of Canada, the terrorist might be emboldened mistakenly believing Canada may have "let their guard down" against terrorism.

4.If a terrorist attack against or within Canada takes place in Canada in the near future, many Canadians will wonder "... who was the idiot or fool who suggested to the terrorists that Canada‘s anti-terrorist troops were out of the country?"

5.Regardless of whether JTF 2 is deployed or not, it is unwise to publicly discuss their activities.


A long, long time ago, when I was in the Army and did my parachute training, if a student made a mistake the instructors would yell at him and ask "SHAKE YOUR HEAD, DUMBY!! DO YOU HEAR ANYTHING? NO?? I‘M NOT SUPRISED."

Shake your head, Mr. Price. Do you hear anything?
