F550 is the base for the Senator - Off hand it looks to me like most of those Light Protected Mobility Vehicles are more like LVM(L) trucks with armoured modules than LUV vehicles.

The Light Forces Enhancement Project Tactical Mobility Platform - with its team and 1.25 tonne payload with a 0.5 tonne trailer looks a lot closer to the Jeep or CUCV or the ISV than the LUV.

Many proposed vehs here, Why not a toyota with quad M2s? Basically a throw away but fast, maneuverable etc. Handed better armored forces their heads on many occasions. But really cheap, should appeal to govts of all stripes!

You're right. There are many solutions here. And somehow somebody thinks that all of them can be made to work.

They all do their job to some degree; but not all of them do the job we need done. In fact most don’t.

We the Canadian Army. It’s the only “we,” this “the reg force” and “the reserves” stuff is absurd and counter productive. We are a single army made up of regulars and reservists who achieve a single goal. Or we’re supposed to be anyways.

How about we the armoured, medium and light regs?

Reserves 2000 enters the chat ;)

It would take them some time to find them missing. Lol the average NG local drill hall has more stuff then a CFB.

Have a training weekend with a NG unit them give them beer....quietly leave with more than you came with....
At one time one of the Guard units in Yakima offered us Conversion on their Paladin's and even offered to Loan us one of them for training and also a Towed 155. They asked if we could provide a couple of Gun Detachments for their training on a semi regular basis. Our superiors said no.

Big win for AM General.

As an aside interesting to see the government flex sometimes. It's was an Oshkosh design but because the US paided the the R&D and own the IP they can just give it to the bidding bidder.

Best reason I have seen yet for upgunning the LAV ISCs - or at least a portion of the fleet

If we still had the GDF-005s, or were planning on replacing them, then 35 mm would seem to be a good upgrade level.

I am not necessarily proposing adopting the CV90 just to get its turret. Just looking for its gun and UTAS FCS. Maybe some of the ACSVs could be turreted and some of the LAV6s coiuld have their turrets removed.

My only concern with 35mm, and I fully admit to being a conservative in my outlooks, is that you severely reduce ammunition capacity. And now we start adding new ammo types and that primary role gets hard to achieve. If we up gun LAV 6 I’d be tempted towards 40mm telescoping

CV90 with the bofors has 24 ready rounds and has two more magazines in the turret. The CV9035 has 70 in two belts of 35 and has another 140 available to be loaded. LAV 6 has 210, 150 and 60, ready and another 210 carried.

The 40mm CTA cannon that was on the cancelled Warrior upgrade looked really impressive.
CTA gives Aprox 30% less weight, and usually 10% less area requirement for the ammo due to the shape.

It’s on AJAX as well but I don’t hold that against it. How they managed to only carry 65 rounds is beyond me but I suppose if your reference point is RARDEN then everything is an upgrade
