I seen the Liberals are pushing for fines and big punishment for CERB fraudsters. I think that's great of Trudeau to push to be honest. I'm impressed.

I could swear I just read an article a couple days ago somewhere saying 190,000 Canadians were suspected of getting CERB when they shouldn't.

Now it's all repaid? Having seen what happens when troops are over paid I find that timeline hard to swallow. I wonder if there's actual proof it's repaid. $380 million (for 190,000 Canadians over 1 month)

Gotcha journalism at its finest. She went to get tested because someone who she's working with was in contact with someone who was COVID-19 positive. When Lecce tested negative, there was now no reason for her to be tested other than to keep the appointment, so she went and did other stuff just as anyone else who was not required to isolate due to COVID exposure would be.

Its not like she flouted an interprovincial travel ban to be in close contact with family living in a different household multiple times. I don't know what kind of political figure would do that...

U.S. FDA revokes emergency use status of drug touted by Trump for COVID-19

The U.S. Food and Drug Administration on Monday revoked the emergency use authorization for malaria drug hydroxychloroquine as a treatment for COVID-19, the use of which has been championed by U.S. President Donald Trump.

The FDA said based on new evidence, it was no longer reasonable to believe that oral formulations of hydroxychloroquine and the related drug chloroquine may be effective in treating the respiratory illness caused by the novel coronavirus.

The move comes after several studies of the drug suggested it was not effective, including a widely anticipated trial earlier this month showed it failed to prevent infection in people who have been exposed to the virus.

Might be time for some good news.

I hugged my two year old niece for the first time this year this past Sunday, and had her for the entire day today, letting her splash around in a kid's pool picked up for the occasion. With Ontario opening social circles up to 10 people, that is enough for my entire immediate family. I would share pictures, but I promised my brother that I would not post anything without his prior approval.

Additional good news is that my brother's mother-in-law arrived as a permanent resident from Kenya in October, just before this whole mess started. She had planned to return home to Kenya in late February, but quickly cancelled that plan due to the need for a 14 day quarantine on each leg of her journey. Not to mention that Kenya apparently announces nationally the names and points of origin of all returning citizens. Mama Linda is a very quiet person, so I can completely understand that alone big the deciding factor to remaining in Canada. Her being here has meant that my brother and his wife are both able to work from home without worry.

Although I have to admit, the fact that they came on Sunday wearing masks and were still considering keeping social distance, we all came to tears when my brother told his daughter to give her Papa (my father) a hug. It was something everyone in my family needed. Sadly, too many of my friends around the province lost relatives both to Covid and to other causes, and have not been able to grieve properly. I've been preparing something to help each of them.
