Yeah, you sound like the kind of guy that can‘t bear any kind of negative scrutiny. Out the door quick, huh, what are you going to do, snitch on me or something? How mature. I was in for five years, mate, and you‘re talking out of your a__. What my buddy Ipso said is true: alot of the guys would waddle through battle drills. It is true, also, that Ipso didn‘t say that they couldn‘t do their job because they are hefty, some of you guys implied that with your replys. "Interesting", Freud would say. Or does that still count as a Freudian Slip if you incriminate yourself, Infanteer? Let me know, chum.

What is this a TAG TEAM?

Let‘s let the physical fitness/fat thing die. So you think that all Armour Soldiers are fat from a few photos. You‘re in BC, take a trip to see for yourself. Maybe, only the fat ones are photogenic.

Why don‘t we look at some of the other aspects, or I‘ll just let the moderator lock the Thread.

Ummmmmm....sorry George STAT. :(

This thread is about Armoured Corp training. If you want to debate the merits of body type or body fat, do it on another thread.

It takes a special kind of guy to be an Armour Soldier, especially after seeing something like this (sent to me by Dave W and also found in the Arty Forums):

Armour types are naturally limited in Breadth by the hatches in their vehicles, having just crawled through 2 marks of Leo‘s I can attest that the average trooper can not be overweight and has to have a high degree of flexiability to perform their tasks inside a tank. After 8 hours of crawling around 211 different type of tanks, I was exhausted and have a new-found respect for my armoured breathern!

Ipsofacto.

You just ran out your string. QED.

This from a guy who claims to be 23 years old. Grow up. This is what one would expect from a person with a mental age of four.

Perhaps this is what you need...

I‘ve never seen anyone commit suicide on the Net before. I guess Trolls and Posers burn out fast.

Yeah, at least I‘m not some fat old relic. Been in the army your whole life went nowhere, and amounted to nothing. ****, it‘s better the devil I know; I‘m already surrounded by fat, lazy women, so I might as well stay in school.

Am locking this one up. Franko, George, et al - feel free to open a new one.

George I edited out your quotes - I think our boy has had enough publicity for one night. My apologies.

Ipsofacto - you‘ve worn out your welcome.

Shot One, 30 over....

People,

I was most curious in the armour corps training thread before it got locked.

On a related note... how is one‘s PCF determined? Do you get trained on a variety of vehicles and learn the various skills one needs to be posted to any squadron in an armoured regiment or do they look at each recruit and decide that he is going recce and he is going tank and he is going hq etc etc...

Are there any major differences between the three armoured regiments or are they, more or less, interchangeable. (My wife really wants to stay in Edmonton but I, not being from here, would be happy being posted wherever.)

Like I said, I want to drive a tank but am curious as to the steps involved in training and whether they are going to look at my test scores and time in SQ and BMOC and say that I am going to be a recce observer.

I‘m open to whatever, though.

Once you get into Armour training in Gagetown, you‘ll usually get qualified first on MLVW and perhaps the new G-Wagons, when they come in, so that you can be employed as soon as you get to a Regiment. After your Basic Armour course, they will give you one of three courses; Coyote Driver, Coyote Gunner, or Surv Op. Then you will be posted to a Regiment. Which course you get will depend on what the School and/or the Corps deems at the time.

You will find that most Armour soldiers are qualified drive a wide variety of vehicles. If you get to a regiment and land up in HQ Sqn or an Admin troop, you may be sent on an Air Brake course which is required prior to learning to drive the HLVW or LAV IIIs.

The likelihood of getting a tank course seems very slim at the moment.

is Gagetown the only armoured school now? some guy my mom knows was supposed to go to wainright to do his amoured couce

Heres the low down from SQ to the Regt. After SQ training the soldier will do DP1. This covers TCCS, AFV, driving of the MLVW, history of the corp, weapons training. Then all will receive the Coyote driver course. There will not be any Leo driver courses anymore. the DP system has then the yng soldier receiving Surv Op, then Gunner.
George, another course is coming in on Monday to Petawawa, these fellas are just as bad as the others. There are 6 on English language training here and should show up by summer. Have fun with them. E mail me, I have the name posted to the Regt, do you have the ones posted out here? :tank:

I met ten or so of them on Wed. Been telling my guys that if they don‘t want to loose their slots for the next deployment, they had better be sharp cause the "Replacement Killers" are arriving.

It must have been the ones that, left earlier. Last Mon some left after they cleared out. But they had leave passes, for a week? It may have been the French fellas that had the passes? They have to stay a lil while. There is two more courses running and one SQ. Da3m! I have already S23t on a few. The School is back to having Depot Sqn. Its divided between Holding and Depot Troops. No more CVS or TSS now HQ Sqn. It takes care of all the vehs track and wheeled. And RHQ o yea, the place to be.
We‘ll have 8 Tanks at the School by Aug. The last Tank 6B just ran. The last Ph3/Ph4 this summer. The next 6B will be 4 weeks long, Courses are 1/2 to 3/4 shorter.
New names also. 6A - Armour Recce C/C course
6B - Recce Tp WO
Ph3- DP1 OA
PH4- DP1A OA
There are a few more new courses:
Plt Commanders course (A Unit run course?)
Tank Tp WO (MGS fellas)
SQMS course
Ops WO course
Urban Warfare Spec.
 :tank:
