I was reading the CFLRS joining instructions and it says that you need to bring a Affidavit showing proof of common law relationship. Can someone who has done this explain more? Do they mean a signed Affidavit with a lawyer needs to be provided? Or is there another way of getting a Affidavit signed with regards to common-law?

You go to your CFRC/D with proof that you have been living, in the same residence, with your significant other and the CFRC/D will produce the paperwork that recognizes your common-law relationship in the eyes of the CF.  This paperwork is included in your enrolment file which is sent to CFLRS.
