My rant about pay raises and civilians

I think it's the uniform that gets people thinking they can just hammer into ya all they want. When not doing the infantry thing I also work part-time at the Skydo-... er, Rogers Centre as security.  A co-worker was checking bags and being female she had most of the people lining up in front of...

    The CADPAT Answer

Some guys from 1 AD on BMQ with me had everything except CADPAT combats.  They had all the gore-tex kit as well as the tacvest but with the old OD's.  Looked pretty funny.

    Company recognition

After checking out the site I noticed there is legislation for people in the public service industry.  Is this true?  If your a police officer or a government clerk are you protected while training?

UNDER SIEGE 9 - Last Train to Gaspe

I took the time, I think it‘s hilarious!

issued American cam pattern bush hats?

I was issued OD combats in Nov with the old robin hood style bush cap to go with it. I got my new bush cap with new combats in March and never saw the American style one.

    Cadpat for BMQ?

We got ours in the last few weeks of BMQ when our unit (GGFG) received them. You will probably get the older combats for the course but I imagine you‘ll get them by the time your on SQ.

    Job Offer Update

I heard they keep the number of physicians in Borden viewing applications limited so that there is a broader consensus on which applications are accepted or rejected. I think the idea has merit but there must be a better way that‘s faster.

    Washing Cadpat

Are you talking about the ground sheet, or the bivouac bag. The bivy bag can be machine washed and dryed as per the label instructions. Your best bet for the ground sheet however is just to air it out and hope for the best.

    The Seal Hunt Mega-Thread

So a baby seal walks into a bar. Bartender says "What‘ll it be?" "Anythings good" says the seal. "So long as it ain‘t Canadian Club."

More "Army" in Army Cadets (combat training, etc.)

So your saying because there isn‘t combat training in Army cadets there is no point to Army cadets? Cadets and scouts are entirely different organizations. It is ok to have more than one young organization in the country, it isn‘t illegal.

More "Army" in Army Cadets (combat training, etc.)

Having been a cadet I think there is no problem with "stimulating" an interest in the CF. Learn how to build shelters, first aid, etc in a military environment. The last thing they need however is training of the combat sort. In my opinion there are enough wannabes as it is. Don‘t get me...

    Red vs Blue

I got the first season DVD from my brother for christmas. I really like the series, pretty funny!

JTF2 Operators leaving CF to join PMCs

I meant budget per solider obviously. Getting more money then an entire element would be ridiculous. Sometimes good opinions come from members who may accidently present their thoughts poorly. I‘m using an example of an individual soldier. It‘s hard to speculate since I‘m far from being in...

JTF2 Operators leaving CF to join PMCs

I don‘t think the government‘s stance towards national defence would have that much of an effect of JTF members. I mean, they get the first and biggest slice of the budget pie each time. Plus the government wants to increase their numbers giving them more money. Private firms will always be...

    CF Aptitude Test (Spatial examples)

I can understand that having a degree means you will not be any better off. But I can‘t see how it would cause confusion ;)

Does having a university degree really make that much of a difference?

Carleton is a good school (but I‘m biased). A degree makes a difference, chances are there may be things you want to do after your career in the forces. The degree would definately be useful there.

    Vandoos have their own cartoon!

The cadpat was probably done with photoshop. I have drawn some similar cartoons (not of that caliber) but the end result looks similar. You scan the drawing you made and colour it with a photo editing program. Then take a sample picture of cadpat, shrink it to the appropriate scale so the...

    Teamwork

Think about all the stuff you have learned through cadets, or you have taken upon yourself to pick up. Then teach all that to coursemates. If someone somewhere gave you a tip to make your beret look better or something like that then go ahead and share that with the rest of you section. Try...

    Oakely Laser Lens

The only ballistic protection you‘ll get is probably from your buddies fingers. Extra bonus if your hand is inbetween them. In order to protect against all forms of laser‘s you‘d need glasses that protect against all wavelengths of light. If you had that you wouldn‘t be able to see :(

    Post your scrim

I saw a helmet that had all the scrim tucked under the netting. Like the helmet netting was a hairnet for the scrim. I thought that looked kind of silly.
