When he wrote his book he was LGen. but from my understanding he has since been promoted to Maj. General.
The Irish are doing well! Al Nichols and John Goudreau are still involved with the Regiment. We had our winter indoc. last weekend which was cold but fun. I'm on my BMQ course right now...
Maj. General Romeo Dallaire will be speaking in North Bay next Thursday! A bunch of members from our regiment are driving down to see him speak! Should be a good experience. I read his book a while back so it will be interesting to hear his story first hand.
I'm also on BMQ right now but we don't finish at 6 :00 to watch movies. We are up at 5:30am and are busy until usually midnight. We don't have time for PT either...it's used only as punishment. We spend a lot of time in the classroom and a lot of time on the parade square practicing drill.
We...
One little advice for the math problems - round to the closest easiest number. Every section of your test will be timed, and you don't have a calculator. They ofthen give you problems with numbers like 24.387. Just use the number 25 because you have to do the calculation in your head. If you...
The PT is actually fairly minimal - I get the feeling it will more be used as a form of punishment than incorporated into the course. The majority of your PT will come on SQ and BIQ. The majority of the time was spent with ours of drill as someone posted earlier.
We worked until about 12:00am -...
I had my first weekend of BMQ this weekend. Since I'm in the reserves and in school I will be taking the course on weekend. The first weekend consisted of many classes on various topics including ethics, rank structure, substance abuse as well as many many many hours of drill. So far three...
To be honest I don't think we have a "Kit Shop" - we only have a clothing depot somethign or other where we go when we need to get issued new kit. I don't think that we can just buy equipment from a kit shop.
We just had our Christmas dinner on Saturday and like yourself a few of us didn' thave DEU's yet. We were instructed to wear a nice pants and shirt, tie and jacket were optional. I decided to wear a suit and that's pretty much what everyone did. Anyone who didn't have DEU's was in a suit.
I'd...
I was also dissapointed to see peoples reaction today.
Like others I am not opposed to people right to free speech, and right to protest. But at least protest in a civilized way. What happened today did not accomplish anything really. A few people got tossed in jail, a police officer was...
I‘d also try to get there ASAP. The application process can be fairly lengthy, so it you are wanting to get accepted this summer you may have to rush rush rush.
LOL really? They made you hand it in? That‘s weird!
I would have thought that all recruiting centers would have followed the same policies!
Did you have it filled out and with you?
Hey Guys,
Well I just got back from being sworn in. Feels great!
However the supply tech wasn‘t there today, so I don‘t get issued my kit until next wed. or thur.
I‘ll check the list that was posted with what I get, and post any of the differences.
I went through that process just a few weeks ago and you do not need to hand that "preparing for your interview" form in. It is simply a guidline to help you prepare. They will most likely ask you many of the questions on that sheet, so it‘s good to be prepared.
They will however ask you a lot...
48th I understand where you are coming from with the respect thing. You are basically saying that just because I got signed up for the reserves isn‘t really good enough to have your full respect. I can kinda understand that.
But you did say, that you had respect for the recruits that come well...
