Justin Trudeau hints at boosting Canada’s military spending

If you think the average Canadian is tuned into what is being said by LPC candidates, you're kidding yourself. The only people really watching the LPC race right now are the politically engaged, who have already made up their minds.

    Arctic/Offshore Patrol Ship AOPS

I'd suggest that if someone is at the "Strat level" and questioning the trip, and the value of "showing the flag" they maybe shouldn't be at the Strat level... Who specifically at the "Strat level" is questioning the trip anyway?

U.S. Annexing Canada (split fm Liberal Minority thread)

Even my American friends who lean GOP are a bit weirded out by the obsession... I'm not sure America or Canada could survive an actual annexation attempt. Bob and Sally from London are essentially indistinguishable from Joe and Jane from Detroit. I'm not sure Americans would put up with the...

    Arctic/Offshore Patrol Ship AOPS

It's not a hard question though, as pointed out by others you quoted. Just because you disagree with the answers does not mean they are not correct. Warfighting is the smallest part of what a navy does. It can be the most important part at times, but it the smallest thing. Navies are used to...

    Trump administration 2024-2028

There were stores in Charlottetown that sold amazon junk, opened a few hours a week, and were only staffed by the owners family. No connection to buying/scamming PR status though... 😉

Justin Trudeau hints at boosting Canada’s military spending

I visit the CBC news website nearly daily. I'm not in favour of killing the CBC, but I'm definitely not in favour of giving them more money to piss away on dumb TV shows nobody watches. They really need to refocus on local journalism, and cut a lot of the obvious bias toward the LPC/NDP...

    LPC leadership race - 2025

I was responding to the line I quoted, not the overall situation in the LPC leadership race. I agree that if there was something that seemed a bit off, the best bet was to be open about it and remove the candidate. Under normal circumstances they would have had more time to vet candidates, but...

Mystery Illness in Congo - 2025

Yeah, if you follow world news you see a strange new disease outbreak in sub-Saharan Africa every few months. Usually a handful of people in a remote area die, and researchers spend a few weeks figuring out what it is. I wonder if we hear about them more lately because there is better...

    LPC leadership race - 2025

I think if our government is going to rebuild any trust from Canadians, the parties need to be as open and honest as possible about who they allow to run under their banner, and how they choose their leaders. The idea of a cabal of unelected backroom insiders choosing who can even vote for in...

Justin Trudeau hints at boosting Canada’s military spending

I'm not confident it's that they are more in touch, rather it's more that the extremely unpopular leader is finally stepping down at some point. We won't really know if they are actually connecting with voters until they have a leader and start trying to sell themselves.

Justin Trudeau hints at boosting Canada’s military spending

Just when you think they can't get more out of touch with average Canadians, they say something dumb again.

Pope resigns- 2013 - Now 2025, Pope In Hospital In Critical

I had the opportunity to attend Christmas Eve Mass in St. Peter's Square, even though I was raised Baptist(about as far from RC as possible while still mainstream Christian), it was an experience I will remember for the rest of my days. I'm sure Rome during Easter is just as special.

Jesus... I thought it was an obvious and rather tame joke. Perhaps I should have added an emoji. 😬 Apologies to any who took offence.

While those are cool ships, they are for an entirely different mission than the CMMC is planned to accomplish. The CMMC is intended to be a warship, not just a missile truck.

My understanding was that it was up to the unit whether or not to offer the IE20, and it was very inconsistent across the entire CAF from what I have heard over the years. It was so long ago and I was so Jr., that I don't have anything beyond what I have heard from chatting with others in the...
