Hello,

Due to a knee injury I have been forced to postpone my application.  I given to reflection on my application and if my choice was a sound choice for a future career.  I was a personal trainer and was very good at my job having trained some professional and junior athletes aswell as gen pop. I hoped to join the CF and find an opportunity to pursue combatives and military specific fitness. After my service I planned to start a business around this.  I've applied as a Bosun as it may accommodate for my knee injury.  It's simple bursitis.  Something it took far to long to determine. But Id like to get it fixed and join the infantry as I see a greater possibility of future involvement in Iraq/Syria in the infantry.

I'm curious of any insight into how I might have a better opportunity at experience in acute fitness training or combatives.

I'm also considering scraping the plan and doing ROTP.  Perhaps in psychology or poli sci oriented feilds. Thanks.

Sorry. I should have also asked if there is a profession I could eventually move into working with fitness within the CF.

Good day ToffeeBlue,

Thank you for your interest in the Canadian Armed Forces (CAF).  There are many opportunities in the CAF.

Service in the CAF offers valuable job skills, exciting challenges and unlimited career possibilities.  With more than 100 occupations the CF invests in its personnel by giving them the training & education required to do their demanding jobs to the best of their abilities.  As a result, Canadian soldiers, sailors & air personnel are world-famous for their professionalism and expertise.

The CAF has more than 20 entry programs, some of which include subsidized education.  Candidates with education levels ranging from Grade 10 or Secondary IV to a university degree are encouraged to apply.

A great place to start looking into a career in the CAF is by looking at our website; you will find the answers to many questions.  You may wish to first consider whether you want to work full (Regular Force) or part-time (Reserves).

Perhaps you’d rather work part-time with the CF.  We have many part-time jobs available in the Reserves.  You can view a list of Reserve units in your area at:
