I'd hope the Senate would see right through this, and does it's job & rejects it. There is no reason in hell Canadian taxpayers should be stuck paying pensions to the very same people who intentionally destroyed our country...

I'm not getting my hopes up though. This is the same Senate that passed various internet censorship legislations, and seems to have absolutely zero bite behind it's non-existent bark
sadly, the senate is a Justin puppet. He has appointed most of them although theoretically they are independent. Lol

Can anyone remember any Prime Minister ever going after a Premier the way Trudeau has gone after Higgs? Would any PM ever try that against the Premier of Quebec? Ever?
Ah, but you're harkening back to days when political discourse, even between rivals, was civil - or at least more civil than it is now.
It makes the PM look unhinged.
Maybe not quite that far, but for SURE like he's hanging on waaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaay too tightly to what he considers a possible liferaft tactic.

Meanwhile, ironically, the demographic groups he's been targeting all along don't seem to like him ....

‘Generational fairness’?: Seven-in-ten Gen Z, Millennials say Trudeau’s government not working in their interest

Concern over inflation cools, worry over the deficit rises; few see Trudeau best to handle top issues

April 25, 2024 – As the federal government looks to address “generation fairness” in its most recent budget, new data from the non-profit Angus Reid Institute finds most Canadians doubting it’s working for any generation at all.

In the second part of a post-budget scan of Canadian public opinion, seven-in-ten Canadians of all generations say they don’t believe the federal government under Prime Minister Justin Trudeau is working in the best interest of their age group. Vast majorities of Gen Z adults (18- to 24-year-olds) and Millennials (25- to 44-year-olds) also express doubt the Liberals have their best interest at heart, despite a volley of measures in the recent budget aimed at some of their top issues.

All basically money issues, and no squaring the "fix the deficit and inflation/spend more on health, housing, and climate" circle.

... Trudeau is acting like an animal caught in a bear trap; but the LPC, NDP, and a fair number of their supporters don't seem to mind or notice how much they're getting bit.
Fixed that for you based on how many pro-Team-Red folks (mostly, but not all, commentariat who used to work for federal and/or provincial Red teams) are talking out loud about, "it's time to go, buddy."

Listened to a podcast today and one of the more salient lines was “Aside from his family, Justin Trudeau’s biggest supporter is Pierre Poilievre”.

It was a bit of a double-take moment, but it makes sense - for the majority of folks who aren’t closely watching policy, the hate is right now laser-focused on JT. The signs aren’t saying “F the LPC”.

If JT goes, then the CPC has to shift their messaging. Right now, the CPC has a perfect target to throw darts at, so they must be hoping that JT stays on.

Oh yeah. As I've said elsewhere, at least part of both JT & PP (and their most fervent fan bois) are champing at the bit from the white-hot hate they have for each other, thinking how much of a threat the other is to Canada....

... or maybe face an easier-for-Canada-to-take face at the head of Team Red.

The flags have never have ;)

Just a gentle reminder that Army.ca's owner has shared rules re: how to carry out political discussion on the threads.
An excerpt from the rules ....
Adjectives used to describe a political leader/figure in an attempt to attack their stance/attitudes/actions will not be tolerated (examples below) ...

Examples of unacceptable posts:
  • Justin Trudeau and his bunch of clowns...
  • Arsehole Donald Trump....
  • Kathleen Wynne is an evil witch....
Examples of acceptable posts:
  • Justin Trudeau's reluctance to appoint Senators has created a circus in the upper house.
  • Donald Trump's latest tweet is absolutely unacceptable because....
  • Kathleen Wynne's doing a great job ...
I know everyone is passionate no matter what side they're backing & fighting for. Still, we can all do better, vigourously discussing actions/initiatives without personal attacks, no matter how frustrated we are at the politician in question, whatever colour jersey they happen to wear.
