Hats off to you folks! It's one of those wicked problems, for sure. When you don't really know what's around the corner but don't want to be surprised, and don't really want to make the big investments to reassure everyone that it will be OK because the costs would probably break the bank...

I've done a fair bit of parachuting out of them. They're pretty handy. Not great range though, apparently.

Wildland fire fighting is not a year round job, and most summertime fire fighting personnel are seasonal - they get hired at the start of the season and paid off at the end. 'All Hazard' is a nice concept but no one will pay millions to have people sit around for 95% of the year doing nothing...
