History of the Saskatchewan Dragoons
World War I
- 6 August 1914. Details of the 60th Rifles of Canada and the 95th Saskatchewan Rifles were placed on active service for local protection.
- September 1914. Both Regiments contributed to the 11th Battalion, CEF upon its formation. They later recruited and trained personnel for the 28th, 46th, 68th, 128th, 152nd, and 195th Battalions CEF.
- The 46th Battalion served in Flanders and France with the 10th Infantry Brigade, 4th Canadian Division from 11 August 1916 until the Armistice.
- A member of the 46th Battalion, Sgt Hugh Cairns,DCM won the Victoria Cross, on 1 November 1918.
- The 128th Battalion provided reinforcement for the Canadian Corps in the Field.
- On 1 September 1918, the 95th Regiment was redesignated "95th Saskatchewan Rifles".
