Fortunately, unlike the big ugly beret, there's a film clip on how to prepare the only proper piece of combat headdress for wearing into battle:  ;D

US Army pers wear beret's as per their dress regulations. Also, some people have better formed berets than others(also seen in the CF).

I'm sure many members of the US Army have seen other NATO military pers wearing berets, but that doesn't mean the Americans have to change their berets. There isn't a NATO standard when it comes to beret sizes, or which side the fold/flap goes, etc.

I wouldn't go off movies for a reference in the wearing of uniforms.  If you wish to see how they actually wear their uniforms, a Google search will yield many images and information.

The Chasseurs Alpin Beret actually serves a useful purpose though.  The reason it is oversized and poofy is so that the person wearing it is protected against the sun while patrolling in the mountains.  It could be pulled outwards to shade the eyes, ears, etc...  That is what it was traditionally meant for.

You mean this isn’t the standard?

Maybe as part of his community service this guy can give lessons in beret wearing

There can be only one...

Ah!  That clandestine unit of Blueberries, who tempted 'the Bear' during the Cold War to battle far removed from the main stream.  So secret, no one knew they existed.  The only unit authorized to wear that purple beret.  The artist formerly known as Prince was recently named their Honourary Colonel.

Nothing like a beret you can also use as a sleeping bag for those high altitude patrols:

Here is a fine example. Wouldn't want to go up against these guys in battle.  ;D

As there was an earlier point about why some NATO forces prefer helmets to berets I suggest a compromise.... wear both at the same time as the IDF do

Shortly after the Earth cooled, BA1916 was seen rockin' a purple hat too...

Damn, I was a fine looking young man - even with a 70s era porn star moustache.

Since this thread started off with a slag on the unusual wear of berets by the US Army, on coming across this photo today, I couldn't help but notice that (while the US Army may have an unusual standard that most follow) there doesn't appear to be a standard in the Canadian Army.

Left to right - in varying degrees, the flap gets higher and higher until it reaches number four whose head is too big for his hat.

I'm going to say no, she is just wearing the incorrect trade badge. Her CoC should have corrected her about that.

Of course with all the changes to courses, nobody can give an exact answer what level of trade badge a person should be wearing anymore (at least for the Infantry).  It is just peoples opinions as the dress manual is not very clear.
