Starmer's Britain is trying to straddle the gap between JEF and Macron's EU.
The EU is offering a Security deal to Britain that would overlap the JEF arrangement.
JEF was created to counter the hidebound EU.
So, in the face of nuclear war the EU is really concerned about student visas and access to fish.

Oh, and Norwegian electricity.
The Norwegians have to sell the EU more hydro power and stop hogging it all for themselves. Also they must stop developing their oil and gas fields simultaneously....
