Or perhaps John is referring to the WWII Canadian Army newspaper published daily in Italy. I know of the paper, but have yet to come across any copies. I did acquire some years ago a 1945 copy of "This Army, Vol 2". This is a ‘Maple leaf Album‘ of cartoons by Bing Coughlin the creater of Herbie which had been drawn for The Maple Leaf.

The Army‘s new newspaper has possibly been named after the WWII original.
