reserves and other employers

I am just curious...If you join the Reserves, how do other employers respond and make considerations for your new part-time career?  I understand from what I've read, that much of the training takes place during the summer- basic and trades training.  How have people dealt with having to take time off of work in the summer?  Are employers peeved about it or are there good employers out there that actually support people in the Reserves?
