Well, the eve of yet another 11 Nov. Here its just another day (no holiday here) until 1100h, when all over this vast southern land, crowds will gather at the cenotaphs and RSLs. That being said, I am not going to work tomorrow, for here www.bribiersl.com.au has a ceremony, so tonight, I went to my safe, got my medals out, wiped 'em off (its been since ANZAC Day since I seen them last), along with my RAS badge and ACB.
http://www.knowitson.com.au/Whats%20On.htm has the timings
As strange as it seems, I'll have some nice shorts a collared shirt, and some sandals, after all it is the tropics, and it will be warm. Sunnies and a hat are also a must.
Tonight, I will reflect on my mates who are no longer with us (the list grows as time rolls on), and my own service both in peacetime and at war. I will also remember my D-Day Uncles, and my Great Uncles who fought at Vimy and Passchendaele, yes and also have a stiff rum (or two) tonight before bed.
I look forward to rubbing shoulders, and having a swill of XXXX Gold on tap with the local Viet Nam Vets, and talking to any of the old Diggers from WW2, they're getting thin in the ranks now.
FYI, 11 Nov 1100h AEST = 1900h 10 Nov Cdn CST.
So thats my pers SITREP for 11 Nov here in the tropics.
Regards,
OWDU
