Looks like I will not be joining you guys for the IAP/BOTP starting Jan.27th.

I had a medical limitation stamped on me due to medication that I‘m taking for mild anxiety.

I honestly thought this wouldn‘t be an issue considering others in forces are on this stuff anyway for far more severe reasons than I.

Guess they don‘t need experieced engineers as much as I thought.

I may try again in the summer when I get off the medication...unless, of course, some other high-tech company snatches me up by then.

Good luck to all...and thanx for all of the info.

Signing off,
Jug

That‘s really too bad. I‘m sorry to hear that.

I hope you do try again in the summer...you obviously wanted to make it in.

I wish you all the best in whatever you do.

Good luck.

Sorry to hear it Jug.

Hope you try again, it‘s a shame to have come
this far only to have it taken away from you.

Best wishes and good luck!

Sorry Jug - I can only imagine how much you wanted to get in, if you‘re anything like me. If it makes you feel any better, I was told just before CFRC took its Christmas leave that the artillery list still hadn‘t come out, and that I‘d have to wait until January. I called when they got back and was told instead that "Oh, you most likely didn‘t get in because it‘s close to the start date" - even though nobody worked in between those two points. So I dealt with that. Then I received a call this week from a buddy with a buddy in the Ottawa CFRC office, who found out the officer in charge at Borden took an extra week off in January and the list hadn‘t been completed...so I‘m waiting again, although I don‘t put much hope in good news. My point is, they‘re real good at messing us around. Don‘t forget - they‘ll always be desperate for engineers, because all those professional jobs in the CF always pay more on civvy street, and not many want to join. So reapply again in a few months - you‘ll be ahead of somebody off the street in testing and paperwork.
Good luck,
Ralph.

Thanx all...its nice to see this support.

I will try again if nothing else comes up.

Ralph...you‘re right. They don‘t seem to have a consistent process in place. The letter that I got from the MO stated that I needed regular physician consulting...which is not the case as stated in my file.

Its funny...they ask for clearence from my family doctor (with the support of a specialist here in Ottawa) on whether I can perform the tasks demanded by the CF. My family doctor plus an anxiety specialist both informed me that I would have no trouble performing the duties as a CF officer with the mild condition that I have.

Added to this, by the time training is done (2+ years) I would be well off the meds and good to go.

What I don‘t understand is why they bother asking to get the ok from your doctor when they‘ll just trump them anyway....seems like an excercise in futility.

They don‘t really seem to look at the whole package in terms of what an applicant can bring to thier organization....guess thats just thier way of thinking.
