Joe Biden Pardons his son

why does he need to justify it?
If you are going to pardon someone there should be an accompanying reason why. The reason he gives doesn’t seem to be very solid.

I get it though. This him showing his GAFF isn’t very high right now.

no doubt hes done. But whats the point in being President if you cant pardon your son lol. I cant say ive ever paid much attention to any reasons given for pardons

The point of being the President is to lead the country.

Biden is in his “Leeroy Jenkins” phase right now.

If he gets questioned, he can either point to the SCOTUS Presidential Immunity ruling, or point at Trump’s list of pardons in 2020-2021.

And Trump can point to this.

He probably could have softened the blow by pardoning Trump at the same time. If his concern is that the process was politicized then Trump can make the same claim.

Compounding this was him saying earlier that a pardon for his son was not in the cards. I get that he was campaigning at that time but this will stain his legacy.

he did that its done. The people chose another and if people were concerned about criminals then they wouldnt have elected one
You stated what would be the point of becoming president if you couldn’t pardon your family members.

I told you what the point of being the President is.

Lots of people are concerned about criminals getting elected. There was an entire campaign based on that. Those same people should be concerned about an abuse of office regardless of the party colours.

if people want to something about abuse of the Presidential pardon. Im sure they can work on that. I doubt it will have much chance or find much favour amongst the current crowd

Obviously not, because the only convicted criminal is about to become President of the United States in a few weeks.

The (current) president can pardon whomever he wants to pardon other than himself (which would be irrelevant since he has immunity as a result of a gift from Trump's majority SCOTUS). He pardon his son. Big Deal. Get over it. It's not like he pardoned an Hannibal Lecter type.

I don't even see this as interesting news in the current US context.

And an entire campaign was exactly about him being a convicted criminal was it not? How many actually voted against him? Was it lots? What is a lot to you? lol. So yes a lot were. They did nothing but talk about it for years leading up to it.

The president can do a lot of things. Doesn’t make them all correct or right. Making it worse was his repeated pledge not to pardon him. I don’t blame him. But that doesn’t shield him from criticism over it.

Nothing to get over. Not my country not my problem. I just prefer consitancy of opinion. If you prefer not discussing it then exercise that right you have and move on to something else.

Then why comment?

I do. If you want to discuss the validity or moral context of the pardon cool. But no reason for you to criticize my interest in it.
