Greetings to everyone here,

I figured I'd take the opportunity to introduce myself and disclose where I am in the recruiting process all in one go. Although my profile speaks for itself thus far, I'll just mention that I am a twenty year-old male living in Burnaby, a city in the Lower Mainland of British Columbia for all of you over in the Center of the Universe  ;). Due to an enduring interest in the military and a desire to take a part in something bigger than myself or some company's monthly sales projections, I decided to enlist with a Primary Reserve unit (I still want to iron out a solid post-secondary education before making a full leap into anything). I was interested specifically in the occupation of infanteer, that coupled with a healthy appreciation for all things Scottish (personal ancestry), led me to the Seaforth Highlanders of Canada.

At this point I've been fortunate enough to have had a relatively expedited recruiting process, roughly two months so far. I have now successfully completed each phase of recruitment and am awaiting contact from my local CFRC (I did the PT test last, and it was at an outsourced private location, who knows when they'll deem it appropriate to forward my papers). At this point I don't mind the waiting at all, although agonizing, it's easier on the nerves than actually having to mentally and physically prepare for the tests and interviews, regardless of how easy or challenging any of them may have turned out to be.

That's currently about it for me, I'm just damn happy to have found such an extensive resource and community, and to have a bunch of guys and gals to suffer along with me through the process.

Yeah suffering is a good way to put it.  :P

I would pay good money to be able to just walk into the recruiting center, have a day filled with tests, and then at the end of the day tell me whether I'm accepted or not.  Now this is never going to happen, but we can dream!

And welcome to the forums, and of course best of luck with everything.

A little bit of good news, I got my call to be sworn in. 1900 on 06-04-06. Done now, it was a simple process but still quite an experience. What I enjoy most is how once you're done recruiting , you're not a coddled customer anymore and you get chewed out for everything. Good stuff, everything is great so far.

Hey guys, i just applied for the reserves, i want to get into basic training for the summer,I visited the recruiter on thursday, got the application and filled it in out on friday,I called him on friday to drop of my application and docs, and hes like come on tuesday!!, lol he must be really busy,  i disscussed with him the length of the application process he said it could take up to 3 months....but he said if you submit your stuff quickly you can still get in the summer training, i want to clarify that with him, i really want to get into the the summer camp, its the best time for me as i cant train because of collage, ill update this thread and tell you how it goes

Greetings!

Not sure where to post a formal indtroduction so i thought the very top is a good start.

Just recently enrolled into the Canadian Armed forces as a light infantry reservist.  I found this forum while researching different aspects of the military life.  I enjoy discussing many things I see on this forum, from army history to current events, domestic and overseas.

Im from southern Ontario and ive loved the military since I was a young boy.  I cant think of a better job that allows one to learn so much and at the same time stay physically fit and mentally ready.

Im still fresh out of recruiting.  I still havent even been sworn in officially.  That, will be happening sometime this week.  I will be parading with The Grey & Simcoe Foresters of A Company in Owen Sound.

That should make a fair introduction.  I look forward to discussing my views with the members of this fine forum.

thank you.
Adrenaline.
