i am reseraching the life of Hugh McKenzie, VC of the PPCLI.
when he attested in 1914, he said he had previous military service:-
4 years Garrison Assistant
2 years special reserve field assistant.
would anyone know what the terms garrison assistant and special reserve assistant means?
would they have been milita or territorial positions/posts?
would anyone know when he came to canada from scotland, as this date is missing from the usual biographies.
