A question was brought to my attention about a deceased WW II vets record of discharge in 1945. The record contains the acronym A.F.G.O. 56. Anyone have any idea what it stands for? Tried a google but no dice.
While it may not be the exact "A.F.G.O. 56" that is referenced in the documents (they may have been numerically sequenced in each year like CANFORGENs e.g. 56/1944, 56/1945 . . .) here is a link to AFGO 56 in a Canada Gazette that deals with re-allocation of personnel, so it could possibly be a reference in the discharge of pers from the service.
