If I close my but plan to start it again at a later date how long does the recruiting center keep the file before I need to start from scratch? I am flying out soon so won't be able to contact anyone there for few weeks to ask. I can't find anything online either.

Is this what you are referring to?

Canadian Forces Recruiting Group Headquarters has sent out a direction that an applicant who has a closed file for which they would like to reopen will not be required to reapply online if the applicant is requesting the file to be reopened within 1 year from the date that the file closed. The recruiting center holding the applicants file will reopen the file and continue processing for selected entry plan and occupations.

As always, best to contact Recruiting.

Thank you, I guess they shred after I year, I will be sure to contact them as soon as I can to verify.

Hard copies of you application file are held by the CFRC for three years. CFAT scores are electronic and good for life. Medical files are not destroyed they are put into archives.
