You know how every year they have the CFSAC at Connaught Ranges, well here in Australia we have something similar called AASAM (Australian Army Skill at Arms Meeting) conducted at Greenbank ranges in SW Brisbane.

First its a national event, and 2 weeks of international teams show up from a range of countries such as USA, France, Canada, NZ, PNG, East Timor, Malaysia, Fiji, Singapore, Brunei and many more.

Over the past say, 4 or 5 yrs, the competition has become more realistic and is based on infantry skills which include fire and movement, and initiave. Very demanding at times, and just ask and CF personnel who were there last in Nov 2002. We are told here Canada will again be sending a team in 2004.

The CF teams were Militia, Regulars, and Rangers, and ranks from PTE to CAPT were in attendance.

So if you are interested and wanna see some AASAM pics and some other stuff, here is how to find it on the net.

1. Go to Google
2. Search for L1A1 Armouer
3. follow the links, and look at the pages of albums pertaining to Australia and Canada.

Have fun.

Cheers,

Wes
