Today in Canadian Military History
1862 The Militia put forward by george-Etienne cartier, right, for a more
efficient military leads to the defeat of the MacDonald-Cartier Government.
1915 During the Second Battle of Ypres, Captain Francis A. Scrimger, RCAMC,
a Doctor from Montreal, MO for the 14th Battalion Royal Montreal Regiment,
rescues scores of wounded under fire. He was awarded the Victoria Cross for
his actions.
1967 The House of Commons passes an act unifying the Royal Canadian Air
Force, Royal Canadian Navy, and the Canadian Army into one unit, the
Canadian Armed Forces.
