National Guard Chinook pilots, 300 stranded, told to jump in lake. NG Chinooks went back twice.

CalFire:  "Return to base.  It's too dangerous!"

Cal NG:  "This is why no one will remember your name".

300+ campers ensnared by fire. CAL FIRE tells them no hope of extraction, prepare to jump in the lake to survive.

Army pilots say they can help. CAL FIRE says too dangerous. Crews go anyway. 0 vis in smoke filled canyons. Overload helos w/ppl. Then they go back. Twice.

And apparently some hastily-painted hi-vis markings.  Who keeps pails of pink?

4 houses burned in the El Dorado fire so far, amny people evacuated from their homes. Massive conflagration sparked because some idiots had to fire off fireworks to celebrate their unborn kid having a dick. God, people are dumb.

It’s water-based wash. Used often for US Army aircraft augmenting fire ops in civilian airspace.

Pink is one of the most conspicuous colours to the human eye for moving objects, as it turns out, even more so than day-glo orange.

Not so good when stationary. Big fun trying to find a uxo with a pink pin flag on it in a field full of wild roses. Like playing Where's Waldo, only with bombs.
